How to wear jewellery to complement your skin tone

First things first. We need to figure out if your skin tone is warm or cool.

The best way to determine this is to take a white piece of paper and hold it under a light next to the underside of your wrist. Now you need to decide if your veins are more on the blue or the green side. If your veins are more on the blue side you have a cool skin tone. If your veins are more on the green side, you have a warm skin tone.

You can also establish whether your skin tone is cool or warm by following this general rule of thumb. If you look better in silver and blue, you probably have a cool skin tone. If you look better in gold and orange, you are probably warm toned.

Now let's figure out whether you are warm or cool depending on your natural hair colour, eye colour and the undertones in your skin.

A Cool Skin Tone:

So your skin tone is dark brown with reddish or blue undertones, brown with a pink undertone, olive, medium with no colour in your cheeks, medium with faint pink cheeks, pale with no colour in your cheeks, has pink or red undertones. Your hair is blonde, dark brown or black with silver or blue undertones and your eyes are light blue, grey, dark brown or black.

You probably have a cool skin tone and colours like blues, violets, and emerald green really suits you.

A Warm Skin Tone:

Your skin tone is dark brown with golden undertones, medium with golden undertones, pale with peach or gold undertones or freckled. Your hair is golden or reddish brown, golden blonde, red or black with yellow, orange, golden or red undertones. Your eyes are amber, golden brown, hazel or green.

You are probably a warm skin tone and you look your best in earth toned colours.

There are some exceptions to the rule. You may even have a neutral skin tone, meaning you are one of the lucky ones. Neutral skin tones can pretty much pull off any colour.
